Definition:this is usually given as an injection to numb a certain area to prevent pain from being felt. Most cosmetic dental treatment will require some form of anaesthesia, whether it be local or general anaesthesia. Local anaesthesia blocks the signal of pain to the brain, but not of touch and pressure.
