Black Hairy Tongue

Definition:this term is used when a tongue has an excess amount of fungi form papillae in the mouth, dominantly on the tongue, this normal anatomy.

A person with this problem would usually have a great amount of black dots on the tongue, known as ‘papillae’.

Most of the time the papillae will fall off or be washed away once it hasfully gown ,however at times the papillae will remain and therefore likely to get infected.

This is common amongst smokers, diabetics and some types of cancer, due to the medication given. Also low roughage diet, soft diet does not have the wear away required to physiologically remove this skin surface.
