Cleft palate

Definition:A Cleft palate, is a raised / open palate, this is a deformation developed at birth.One in 700 babies are born with this. It affects mainly the upper lip and the palate area. This could sometimes affect a person’s speech, hearing and/or oral health. This also has an effect on the individual’s self-esteem as it physically changes their appearance. Also it can make dental treatment more demanding.
