Northamptonshire Dentistry Gets a £1 Million Boost

The government has provided Northamptonshire NHS dentistry with £1 million to fund the treatment of around 6,600 patients.

The funding has been provided in order to improve oral health in the county and it is hope it will entice patients to visit their dentist again.

The Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley believes it will. He told reporters: “Giving people back their NHS dentist is a key priority of mine, so I am delighted that we have been able to find more money for dentistry.”

One dentist who has welcomed the money is Alison Simpson who said: “It’s fantastic news for people who couldn’t get to see an NHS dentist before.

“We will use the money to make sure that an extra 1,000 people in the area will get access to NHS dental care.

“This means local people will have healthier teeth and will be less likely to suffer from long-term dental problems.”

Some of the funding will also be used to advertise NHS services in the county, something that Andrew Lansley feels is important. He added: “Too many people still have problems getting to see an NHS dentist.”
