When it comes to choosing a dentist there are several things you need to consider. Firstly, do they have a good reputation. Just like any professional in any job or trade, the reputation is built up over many years of hard work and good practice. It’s unlikely that you would just choose the first builder in the phonebook to build an extension, you would ask around your friends and those in the know to get some information. So if you are willing to do this for building work it only makes sense that you do it for something as serious as the health of your own teeth. Ask friends and family to see if they can recommend anyone. The internet may also be able to help but as always just be careful you are getting impartial advice from sources you can trust.
Secondly, go to meet the dentist for a chat and introductory appointment. Most Central London dentists will be happy to meet you to talk through taking you on as a patient. This is very important as you are able to tell a lot about a person meeting them face-to-face. You may feel instantly comfortable or it may be clear that it is not the right dentist for you, but you have to be sure you are making the right choice. After all, having your teeth in someone else’s hands can be quite an intimidating experience so you need to make sure you are going to be comfortable.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. A good and caring dentist will be happy to answer them, as they know how scary it can be for some people at the dentist. This will also give you more of an insight into how your future treatment will develop.
