Choosing a dentist in the City of London: how to decide

When you move to a new area there are a thousand and one things to think about. If you have children you’ll have to decide which school they will attend and you’ll need to be thinking about how you’ll get to work and sort out the gas and electricity. One thing that shouldn’t be near the bottom of your list is finding a new dentist with which to register and there are a number of different things to consider in order to make the right choice.
With the right dental care you shouldn’t be spending too much time in the dental surgery but it is worth taking the time to choose the right one because the health of your mouth will be in their hands as well as yours.
If you have moved to a rural area there might not be much choice but a built up conurbation like the City of London will have plenty of dentists that you can choose from in the vicinity. Proximity is a factor because you might need to get to the dental surgery quickly if you have a dental emergency. Choosing one close to home or to your workplace will also be more convenient if you have to pop out for an appointment.
This should not be the only factor however. Dentists have trained for many years to become exceptionally knowledgeable about all areas of your mouth but it is quite likely that they might have one or two areas of particular expertise. If you have a recurring problem with one aspect of your oral health then finding a dentist who knows about that will be beneficial.
Finding a dentist who you can get on with on a personal level will help too, especially if you have issues with dental anxiety and want to feel relaxed in the surgery.
