After orthodontic treatment, dentists recommend using retainers to keep the teeth in position and prevent relapse. If you’ve recently completed Invisalign treatment, you may be advised to wear Vivera retainers. These retainers have been developed by the manufacturers of Invisalign and they are design to hold the teeth in their new position with minimal hassle or discomfort.

Why do I need retainers?

Retainers are orthodontic appliances, which are used to prevent the teeth from slipping out of position once you have stopped wearing braces. The last thing you want when you’ve got your gorgeous new smile is for all the hard work to go to waste, and this is why retainers are so important. You can choose from fixed or removable retainers. Retainers are not the same the braces, and they are usually either invisible or fixed to the back of the teeth, so they cannot be seen when you smile. If you don’t wear a retainer, you run the risk of the teeth relapsing, and you may need repeat treatment further down the line.

Retainers with Invisalign

After Invisalign treatment, it is advisable to wear Vivera retainers, which have been developed by the company responsible for Invisalign, Invisalign Lite and Invisalign Teen. These retainers are streamlined and sleek, and they’re designed to hold the teeth without any pain at all.
Just like you look after your braces during treatment, we strongly recommend taking care of your retainers. Keep your retainers as clean as possible to lower the risk of decay and gum disease, and store them in a safe place when you’re not using them. Follow your dentist’s instructions to get the most out of your retainers, and don’t forget to schedule regular follow-up appointments.
